When working on a design I try to create in the real world what I see in my imagination. The process involves having my hands make the pictures I see in my head. I’d pictured for a long time how I wanted the Sweetie Pies website to look, and finally you can see that vision, too! What’s also new is the Random Flowers line. This is probably my favorite line so far. When I produce a collection, there is always remaining fabric from that line, whether it’s 1 or 10 yards. After 15 years of designing handmade children’s clothing, you can imagine what my fabric “stash” looks like! It took me two years to design this line in a way that I could combine pieces from other collections to create a fresh, new line. While the lollipop flowers on each garment are really labor-intensive to sew, I am so pleased with the final product. By including favorite fabrics from other collections in the flower appliqués on each garment I am including elements from all previous lines. I believe the love’s in the details.
